D 1. Paris Departure from Paris on Air Madagascar flight. Night on board.
D 2. Antananarivo – Antsirabe Arrival at Ivato airport. Meet your guide at and have breakfast in town and then start driving to the south. We stop at Ambatolampy to discover how to make the local aluminum cooking-pot. Continuing towards Antsirabe.
D 3. Antsirabe – Miandrivazo We hike in the highlands, a unique landscape composed of different hills with crest lines, villages on the slope, houses made of bricks and thatch roof, colorful valley with rice fields: green, ochre, red, beige…continuation to Miandrivazo.
D 4 & 6. Descent of Tsiribihina River by local canoe It is a large and quiet river, we go forward slowly with a relaxing and peaceful mood. We set up our camp on the white sandbank at water’s edge in the evening. The guide prepares meals …Often locals come to us in the evening around the camp fire.
D 7. Tsiribihina – Bekopaka (Petits Tsingy) We come alongside Tsarahotana village. We get our 4WD at the landing stage. We take a car ferry to cross Tsiribihina River and go on towards Bekopaka. Visit of ‘petits Tsingy’. Night in tents.
D 8. Bemaraha National Park (Grands Tsingy) It is a sanctuary of nature as a world heritage by Unesco, Tsingy of Bemaraha is the largest protected area of the Island. This day is an opportunity to discover the most amazing site with a local guide. Camping.
D 9. Bekopaka - Morondava Drive to Morondava and stop at the famous ‘Allée des Baobabs’ (andansonia grandidieri). Night in bungalows.
D 10 to 12. Morondava – Tuléar The trip turns to a real adventure here. The track is bad, and even very rough, and you might get lost also! Driver should have flair and show audacity.
D 13 to 15. Great South tracks From Vezo passing by Mahafaly to Antandroy area. We drive along the coast where you deserve everything. Obvious hot days, rough roads, soft sand, all drive us towards an immense space where grows Didieracea, Euphorbia and Aloe. We ford Linta and Menarandra Rivers to reach Lavanono village and Cap Ste Marie south point of the Island. We pass through a huge Sisal plantation before getting to Andohaela National Park gate. This region is certainly the highlight to your memory.
D 16. Andohahela National Park – Lokaro Bay Drive towards Fort Dauphin. We stop on the way to see Triangle palm, Nepenthes (carnivorous plant). Arrive in Lokaro in the afternoon.
D 17 to 20. Clove coast – Fort Dauphin – Manakara We are the first tour company who took this eastern coast road to Manakara. There are ten car ferries which we take to get through rivers. Apart from that we pass trough many villages of which specialty are clove plantation. We camp on wild beaches by Indian Ocean.
D 21. East coast train journey To leave gradually the Indian Ocean the train passes through luxuriant vegetation to the great Eastern rainforest. At each stops, there are many people, itinerant sellers sell bananas, fritters, grilled chickens. You get to Fianarantsoa station at about 5p.m....may be!
D 22. Fianarantsoa – Antsirabe Arrive at Ambositra we go round shops and visit Zafimaniry artisans to look for a piece of carved wood or finely done square box marquetry. Walk around town and continue to Antsirabe.
D 23. Antsirabe – Antananarivo (departure) A short town tour before going to Tana. Transfer to the airport and fly to Paris
D 24. Paris Air Madagascar flight arrival.
