your day to day trip
D 1. Paris Departure from Paris on Air Madagascar flight. Night on board.
D 2. Antananarivo - Nosy Be Arrival in Antananarivo. Connecting flight to Nosy Be. Hotel staff transfers you to the place. Lunch at the hotel and afternoon free.
D 3. Nosy Be. You have many activities proposals from the hotel: nautical sport (fishing, diving, snorkelling…), day outing on a fishing boat, motor bike and bike renting. The receptionist will advise you to choose amongst activities, or just relax by the beach in late afternoon.
D 4. Nosy Be - Ankify – Joffreville We take a launch towards Ankify. Drive north to Ambilobe; we pass through coffee, cacao, ylang-ylang and further cashew tree plantations on the way. We go on and drive round Amber Mountain towards Joffreville where we set up in a nice hotel bungalows.
D 5. Montagne d’Ambre National Park Start the visit of Amber Mountain National Park with a local guide to this luxuriant forest, an amazing vegetation and special fauna. There is a possibility of walking down going back to the hotel.
D 6. Diégo - Antananarivo – Antsirabe Transfer to the airport and fly to Antananarivo. Meet your guide at the airport and drive straight to Antsirabe. We take our time for a city tour and go for a ride on a “pousse-pousse” (rick shaw) for those who want.
D 7. Antsirabe – Fianarantsoa We stay on the road number 7 and progress towards the south.
We walk around Ambositra town and lunch in a restaurant. Go on towards Fianarantsoa. Arrival at the end of the afternoon.
D 8. East coast train journey To move gradually to the Indian Ocean the train passes through the big Eastern rainforest with its luxuriant vegetation. At each stops, there are many people, itinerant sellers sell bananas, fritters, grilled chickens. You get to Manakara station at about 5p.m....may be!
D 9. Outing on the Canal des Pangalanes Transfer to the landing stage where we embark on a big local canoe along the Canal des Pangalanes heading to the south. The sea is there, we stay on the beach for a picnic lunch, relaxation and swimming.
D 10. Manakara – Ranomafana We leave the seaside vegetation scenery by the Ravinala road to get into Madagascar eastern rainforest. We arrive at Ranomafana village in the afternoon. Stroll around the village and then join the hotel.
D 11. Ranomafana – Ambalavao This is one of the best sites which Madagascar rainforest can give you.
We walk to visit the National Park with a local guide. Back on the road number 7, we join Fianarantsoa town and carry on to Ambalavao.
D 12. Ambalavao – Ranohira We leave the highlands soon. Get a short stop at Ambalavao to see the hand-made Antemoro paper workshop. We drive through a dry and arid huge plateau, Ihorombe, and then we reach Ranohira village where Isalo National Park gate is.
D 13. Isalo National Park Hike inside the massif with just a small rucksack. This simple walk takes us to an amazing landscape towards the natural swimming pool. It is possible to walk around and explore the surrounding mountains summit to enjoy the view.
D 14. Ranohira – Tuléar Today we join the sea. On the way to Tuléar we make some stops to see Mahafaly tribe typical tombs, which are painted and decorated, also amazing carvings are erected on them Walk around the market.
D 15. Tuléar – Fort Dauphin – Berenty Transfer to the airport and fly to Fort Dauphin (45mn). Drive towards Berenty Reserve. We stop on the way to see Triangle palm, Nepenthes (carnivorous plant).
D 16. Berenty Reserve There are four species of lemurs: Sifaka (Propitheque Verreauxi) or dancing lemur and Maki (diurnal), Tsidy and Sonygika (nocturnal). Birds, butterflies, chameleons, turtles, bats and other different animals make visitors’ satisfaction.
D 17. Berenty - Fort Dauphin – Antananarivo Head towards Fort Dauphin and transfer to the airport and fly to Tana (1h15). Make some shopping at the crafts market.
D 18. Antananarivo – Perinet National Park Then drive east towards Périnet National park. One of the main roads of the country relying the most important sea port in Toamasina and the capital Antananarivo. Visit of the butterfly farm to see an amazing concentration of chameleon, gecko, leaf-tailed gecko and butterfly of course. Then go on east.
D 19. Périnet Park – Tamatave We walk in the forest with a local guide to discover the site. It is the best place to meet Indri-Indri, the biggest of lemurs, fascinating family group behaviour. The flora is very interesting, there are many medicinal plants. Then we go on east towards Toamasina.
D 20. Tamatave – Ste Marie Have breakfast at the hotel and then fly to Ste Marie (25mn). Here you are on hidden Indian Ocean paradise. Ste Marie is a quiet and peaceful place, with naturally some white sand and.
D 21 & 22. Ste Marie Days at leisure, you are free to choose your activity, the best way to move around is by bicycle or motor bike. You can rent out a mountain bike to go east coast, visit pirate graveyards or just ride along the beach and villages. You can go to “Ile aux Nattes” at the very south of Ste Marie.
D 23. Sainte Marie – Antananarivo (departure) Fly to Antananarivo after a last swim or a walk along the beach and then connecting flight to Paris.
D 24. Paris Air Madagascar flight arrival.
