DETAILED ROUTE

It was in the North East we have chosen to start this new journey.
There is, between Sambava and Andapa, a mountain range unknown
and rarely visited, it is the Marojejy National Park.
We invite you to climb the summit in a surprising
rainforest filled to above sea level.
Change of scenery from Diego Suarez and to the Tsingy of Ankarana.
We are here in the dry mineral.
Discovery of the canyons and caves of this amazing site.
The camp on deserted beaches of the Indian Ocean and the visit to the 3-bay
will close the circuit which, again, we chose to innovate.
Bon voyage to discover the wealth of the Northern Great Island!

D 1. Wednesday Paris - Antananarivo
Departure from Charles De Gaulle airport on a flight Air Madagascar MD 051 at 16h55

D 2. Thursday Antananarivo - Sambava
Arrival in Antananarivo (Tana) at 04h30, welcome at the airport and flight to Sambava. Check-in Sambava airport reception and lunch at a restaurant in town (or hotel). Walk to town along the seafront
Dinner and overnight stay at Las Palmas.
NB: after the scheduled flight time will be at lunch or Tana Sambava.

D 3, 4, 5 & 6. Monday to Friday hiking in the Parc National de Marojejy
The Marojejy. It is "only" the fourth summit of the island but it is certainly the most interesting because of its location. Indeed, this mountain rises to 2133 m, is located only thirty miles from the sea relatively high altitude in such proximity to the ocean in this mountain offers a variety of unique vegetation in the country.
Our hike starts at Manantenina (40 km de Sambava), and in villages where people introduce us to this green that surrounds us: the vanilla. We go banana stuffed in altitude through the tree ferns, ficus etc. the ...
Zézé is our guide through the mountains. His team of porters accompany us. WWF has long run this park and had a good idea to create small bungalows of wood and canvas. This will be our home during this climb.
Walk without difficulties. Our goal is not necessarily reach the top (high altitude and steep slopes), but to discover the fauna and flora of this magnificent site. The view from Camp No. 2 is absolutely superb. Meals are taken in the camp and picnic.
The nights are gîte d'étape.

D 7. Tuesday Manantenina - Sambava
This is the Propithéque to Diadème which is the main attraction of this park is not hard to find or observe. We again this morning to find it if it is not done the previous days.
Picnic in the forest, then to redescente village. Greeting guides and porters. By car, Sambava and we reach our hotel for some rest after the first few days of hiking.
Dinner and overnight stay at Las Palmas.

D 8. Wednesday Sambava - Diego Suarez
Transfer to the airport and flight to Diego in the morning (30 minutes). We arrive in town for lunch. In the afternoon, we flânons along the rue Colbert to the port and the market.
We assemble to Joffreville to spend the night at the Nature Lodge. Joffreville was during the colonization vacation soldiers who came to take the charge on the heights and leave the heat Diego.
Dinner and overnight stay at Nature Lodge.

D 9 & 10. Thursday & Friday hiking in the reserve of Ankarana
We leave the foothills of the Montagne d'Ambre to visit Ankarana.
Few hours of road before entering the reserve where a minimum of one and a half day walking and 2 nights in tents will be needed to make the tour of the most remarkable of the cave Andrafiabe and its Cathedral, Canyon the Green River, the cave of crystal and rock formations quite amazing: the Tsingy.
We can walk in the savannah and dry forest. Walking is easy and pleasant in the shade of large trees. In the canyons of stone scree slow our progress but we allow access to sites just visited.
Dinner and overnight in tents.

NB: Due to degraded slopes, access to caves is uncertain for departures from April to June

D 11. Saturday Ankarana to Lanivato
Walk to the bottom of the canyon of the Green River. Access is more or less uncomfortable
with boulders of rock, but the arrival and the few hours spent swimming in the river makes this effort much feasible. We resume our 4x4 to leave the reservation and go on the seafront in one of our favorite sites: Lanivato.
We ask our camp just off the beach. Night under tent.

D 12. Sunday Lanivato - Diego Suarez
A morning of relaxation on the seafront and pic nic on the spot. We leave the sea and assemble Joffreville and to find our lodge. In the afternoon our guide leads us into the small valley at the foot of the bungalows for a swim in the natural pool.

D 13. Monday Montagne d'Ambre National Park
This small ecolodge is the ideal base for exploring the Montagne d'Ambre National Park, the first created in the country. Fauna and flora are exceptional here. We are looking for the lemurs, chameleons, birds. We discover the arocaria, the pandanus, orchids, etc ... but also landscapes with waterfalls, crater lakes. A nice quiet day hiking and exploring.
Back at the lodge on foot for the more courageous.
Dinner and overnight stay at Nature Lodge.

	Parc National de la Montagne d'Ambre Of more than 18,000 hectares, this National Park is covered mainly by dense humid forest and dotted with lakes and waterfalls. 		Réserve Spéciale de l’Ankarana Au cœur de ce massif se dressent les fameux Tsingy, ces arêtes rocheuses érodées par l'eau, le vent..., le temps. De profonds canyons découpent la falaise.
