DETAILED ROUTE

Here is undoubtedly a route that will satisfy the discerning traveler in mind explorer! Few people had the chance to penetrate the Makay. It is easy to see why once reached the doors of this massive lost ... but what is happiness! Trek 5 days through wild gorges and canyons, installing here and there our bivouac on the beach at the foot of high cliffs.
In the preamble to this trip, we will go for 2 days at the heart of another massive: the Tsingy de Bemaraha.

D1 : Friday Paris - Antananarivo
Departure from Orly South to Antananarivo on Air Madagascar flight.

D2 : Saturday Antananarivo - Morondava
Arrival in the Madagascan capital early in the morning. Reception at the airport by our team. Time for a breakfast on-site flight to Morondava connection. Installing the hotel Chez Maggy. Lunch at restaurant in Morondava in Seaside Afternoon relax on the beach, walk to town late in the day. Evening at the hotel. (the course of the day will depend on the scheduled flight time Tana / Morondava)

D3 : Sunday Morondava - Bekopaka
After breakfast we take our 4x4 and drive north. 200 km separate us from our goal of the day. Runway laterite is rolling, we cross the dry forest, characteristic of this region of Menabe. Halfway, we cross the river by ferry Tsiribihina these passages always take a little time, the tray is invariably on the other side of the river! People often expect very responsible also essential boat. The gargotiers are installed on the edge to wait for the traveler with tea or coffee with donuts.
100 km away, is that we are Manambolo. River less broad, little bin. On the other hand, it is Bekopaka we arrived. Installation at the campsite at the water's edge. For our dinner, we order the ladies taking close shop, a fish meal or Malagasy zebu

D4 & 5 : Monday & Tuesday the Tsingy of Bemaraha
The reception desk of the park is nearby. Our guide us on our briefe 2 days of discovery of the park and its numerous fady (taboos). We make a short transfer in 4x4 to get access to the major tsingy. This is one of the most amazing of all. We are in a mineral, calcium. This whole area was Madagascar, there are some 5 million years under the sea and formed a barrier reef. Sea withdrawn mineralization performed, weather, water and wind have worked these rocks we find today a spectacular setting. The site is fully equipped with great concern for environmental protection. Scales down to the bottom of diaclases a case of apnea in groundwater, ramps metal strings, a via ferrata help the visitor in its progression, suspension bridges spanning deep flaws. Lookouts provide views over the forest of stone with sharp peaks. In this unique site, the fauna and flora could not only be unique, and this is the case with more than 80% of endemic flora later a large part of medicinal plants. Fauna and later no less than 13 espèdes of lemurs, 90 birds and many reptiles and amphibians. And since we are in the exceptional, the cultural aspect is also with Vazimba which are the earliest inhabitants of Madagascar. Traces and testimonies of these ancestors are as rare as the legends that surround them are beautiful and mysterious. We spend 2 days in the park for us Bemaraha permeate this site.

D6 : Wednesday Bekopaka - Morondava
And since the area is a cul-de-sac, we descend by the track Morondava. Retraversons these dry forests, re-wait on the river for the ferry Tsiribihina and time passing, we arrive at the alley of baobabs at a time when the sun comes raking light yellow, red and of orange trunks smooth giants forever. These are the baobabs grandidieri. 8 varieties exist on the planet. 7 are only 1 against Madagascar in Africa. This forest is certainly one of the representations of the most amazing baobabs.

D7 : Thursday Morondava - Tuléar
After breakfast, walk on the beach outside the hotel then transfer to the airport. Flight to Tulear in Vezos country. Lunch at restaurant in town. Our afternoon is devoted to visiting the markets for fruits and vegetables for the preparation of our trek the next few days. Visit to Maritime Museum and the shellfish market. Night on the town. Installation at the Victory Hotel (or equivalent).

D8 & 9 : Friday & Saturday Tuléar - Beronono the doors of Makay
Start early morning by the National Sakaraha until 7. Here we turn north towards the village of beroroha. In this wooded savanna, the trail is sometimes difficult. Mangoky River is one of the largest of Madagascar, we take the ferry to cross and continue, always north, to reach the small village of Beronono at the gates of the massif. Making contact with our guides and porters. Night under tents in the village.

D10 à 14 : Sunday to Thursday Trekking in Makay
We are not here in a park or reserve, no desk or development. Point infrastructure for the traveler, not a diner or grocery store and, needless to say, not a shadow of a hotel, a restaurant or a bar! Massif are Makay by isolation (we just drive 2 days to go!) N'accueillent that very few visitors. We are privileged to be one of those.
With our guides and porters we enter the mountains at dawn and during 5 days we will hike with them, alone in the world, in these mountains. Here again the universe is made of mineral soft sandstone traversed by hard silicified fractures and layers of pebbles. This rock is very friable easily subject to weathering which permanently reshaping the landscape. Trays are shaded canyons numerous and profound. The line is not the shortest in the Makay and our guide / villagers are the best GPS that can find. We start from the plain and the river reach Makay, our water is often trek! Beautiful sandy beaches at the foot of the cliffs offer roosting choices. The climbs on the trays are short but frank, from above we advance open then descend to the bottom of these canyons, often through the tracks of wild boar. Here echo the cries of parrots. Our growth is frequently in the river water. This clear water and warm coming of massive and repeatedly filtered and refiltrée is primarily responsible for the decor and huge upset.
The atmosphere in the heart of this mountain is strange and mysterious, not people, almost no way, fauna and discreet little vegetation. Silence is sometimes extreme, and we feel wonderful to have this site for us to be for a few days the only explorers. NB: For this trek we advise light shoes, canvas (which dries quickly), type Pataugas with good gripping soles and flip flops with Velcro for crossing rivers. Large heavy walking shoes and rigid are to be avoided.

D15 & 16 : Friday & Saturday Beronono - Tuléar - Ifaty (420 km + / - 14h)
Route Tuléar for via Sakaraha. Ferry crossing of the Mangoky.
J16: night camping
J17: Dinner and overnight at the Hotel De La Plage (or equivalent) or Tuléar Victory at the hotel (or equivalent).

D17 : Sunday Tuléar - Antananarivo
The site Ifaty is privileged and you can freely organize your day: The hotel has a small sailing club, able to organize on-site activities and excursions. The free lunch (paid customers).
Transfer to the airport of Tuléar and flight to the capital.
Reception on arrival in Tana and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Sakamanga (or equivalent).

D18 : Monday Antananarivo - Paris
Transfer to the airport and flight back to Paris with Air Madagascar.
Arriving in Paris in the evening.
